Oliver,
Thank you for the pointer!
Reading IBM materials, I can see that this is not just a response to “SOA is a hot subject today” but there is a very early understanding that SOA is also a difficult and slow process that requires deep collaboration between multiple technical and business audiences.
I watch for semantic tools like Ontology-based Web Services for Business Integration. I also do some work with semantic approach that promises to bridge the gap between natural language of business analysts and the world of diagrams, BPEL, and other technical artifacts of development.
So far we were not extremely successful in reaching out for business support in SOA projects and from my point of view IBM does the best job in this direction.

Jeff,
thanks a lot for your comment.
It is good to hear that IBMs story does line up with the business and IT needs.
I also got some experiences with OWL and also with IBM tools that help to do this (e.g WBSF and WSRR)
But most customers are some what not even thinking about that. It might still be to early. However, there are companies that do it already successfully and also can show the value of SOA.
Personally I think the time is ripe and we all should go for it.
Oliver
